Dr. Aliya Shafi studied Biochemistry and Human Biology at the University of Toronto and went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry Degree at the University of Waterloo.
Dr. Shafi completed her ocular disease externship at EyeLabs in the GTA. There she focused on advanced dry eye, ocular surface disease and myopia management. She also trained at the PRISM Eye Institute where she gained exposure to complex ocular disease in a surgical setting. She enjoys practising full scope optometry with a keen interest in dry eyes and in-office therapies.
While in school, Dr. Shafi received scholarships from the National Vision Institute in 2021 and Transitions in 2020. She was the president of the Private Practice Club and played Varsity fastpitch for both the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto. She is currently a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Shafi welcomes patients of all ages. As a newcomer to the Ottawa area, she looks forward to exploring the outdoors. When not in the clinic, she enjoys playing fastpitch softball, trying new foods, and spending time with her friends and family.
